Wreaths Across America Receives VFW Auxiliary Better World Award

Wreaths Across America (WAA) was honored to receive the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary's Better World Award during the organization's 113th National Convention in Reno, Nevada, on Sunday, July 26. The award was presented on behalf of 2025-2026 National President Lois Callahan in recognition of WAA's commitment to remembering our nation's fallen, honoring those who serve, and teaching the next generation the value of freedom.

Christopher Stout, WAA's Assistant Director of Corporate Development and Partnerships and an Army veteran, accepted the award on behalf of founders Morrill and Karen Worcester, as well as the organization's staff, volunteers, and supporters.

In accepting the award, Stout reflected on the significance of receiving the recognition from an organization that has spent generations serving veterans, military families, and communities across America. "The Better World Award is an honor, but I also see it as a reminder that this work belongs to all of us," Stout said. "Wreaths Across America is successful because thousands of people choose to serve in their own communities every year, many of whom are VFW and Auxiliary members."

Stout also shared that, like many veterans, he was searching for a way to continue serving after his military career. He found that opportunity through Wreaths Across America, where he witnesses every day the impact of volunteers of all ages coming together to ensure every veteran is remembered by name.

"The VFW Auxiliary has been doing this kind of work for generations," he said. "You understand that remembering isn't just about looking back...it’s about teaching the next generation why these sacrifices matter."

As he concluded his remarks, Stout dedicated the award to the entire Wreaths Across America family. "I accept this award on behalf of our volunteers, supporters, trucking partners, location coordinators, and everyone who helps make this mission possible. This recognition belongs to them as much as anyone. Thank you for your partnership, your friendship, and for everything you do for veterans and their families. We're proud to stand alongside you, and we're excited to continue this work together."

Wreaths Across America is grateful to the VFW Auxiliary for this meaningful recognition and for its longstanding partnership in ensuring the service and sacrifice of our nation's veterans are never forgotten. Together, we remain committed to our shared mission to Remember the fallen. Honor those who serve. Teach the next generation the value of freedom.
