Youth Leadership Conferences Across the Country
For over 40 years, the Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) has hosted veteran-led Youth Leadership Conferences (YLCs) across the country. These free educational conferences give veterans the opportunity to teach high school students leadership skills, responsible citizenship, ethics, free enterprise system, patriotic education, and effective communication. YLCs provide real-world insights into teamwork and leadership, ensuring students develop the skills necessary to succeed and contribute meaningfully to their communities. For 2025, there are 17 Youth Leadership Conferences scheduled across the country. Find an event near you here.
National Youth Civics Summit in Washington, D.C.
Top students from each YLC have the opportunity to attend MOWW’s annual National Youth Civics Summit (NYCS) in Washington, D.C. This non-partisan, weeklong event enhances civic education by immersing high school students in firsthand experiences in and around D.C. with a focus on government, history, and the responsibilities of citizenship. The NYCS is offered at no cost to attendees.
At the NYCS, students engage with political leaders, visit Capitol Hill, and explore key institutions such as the Supreme Court, Pentagon, and State Department. Through hands-on activities like simulations and workshops, they gain a deeper understanding of civic processes and American history while strengthening leadership skills in communication, strategic decision-making, and collaboration.
Beyond education, the NYCS exposes students to careers in government, public service, and national security. Through their experiences at the NYCS, students gain the knowledge to make informed decisions that prioritize service to our nation and communities, fostering a lifelong commitment to civic responsibility and leadership. The 2025 NYCS, scheduled for July 13-19, will bring together 20 high school students from across the country to our nation’s capital. Learn more about the NYCS here.
