Ceremony and Volunteer Information

       ********** PLEASE READ CAREFULLY **********

From December 17th-19th, beginning in the morning, Wreaths Across America will be at Long Island National Cemetery to Remember and Honor our veterans through the laying of Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud.

This year's wreath laying will obviously be different. That doesn't mean that we will not be honoring our veterans.

This year's event will contain a virtual ceremony that we are currently working on to begin at noon on December 19th at noon.

We are working with local administration officials and in coordination with local and state guidelines, we have created a plan to ensure everybody's safety. Wreath laying will be done on several days. We are still confirming the delivery of the trucks containing the wreaths.

1) This year, the tractor trailers will NOT deliver the wreaths at the cemetery. The tractor trailers will be parked at a staging area near the cemetery.

2) Each person who wishes to participate will arrive at the staging area in their vehicle and remain in their vehicle at all times. Volunteers will take a quick temperature check and make sure that each vehicle has the proper PPE. If any participants have forgotten their masks, one will be provided.

3) The driver of the vehicle will receive a wristband so that they can quickly reload with another box of wreaths.

4) Our volunteers will load the wreaths into your vehicle ensuring a contact-less exchange of the wreaths.

5) Once loaded, the vehicles will enter the cemetery at the appropriate entrance and follow the map to the sections that have been selected.

6) After the wreaths are placed, each vehicle will exit the cemetery and can continue back to the staging area to receive additional wreaths.

7) When placing the wreaths, please make sure that you do not congregate as it's important that we maintain social distancing during this event. IT IS VITAL that these procedures be followed.

There has been many numerous discussions, planning and meetings will administration officials in order to be able to honor our veterans. Stay tuned for additional details regarding our annual Wreaths Across America event.
