REMEMBER the Fallen. . . HONOR those who Serve. . . TEACH our children the value of Freedom.

My name is Nicholas Carlisle, the son of Mark and Crissy Carlisle. I am in the 10th grade at Spain Park High School where I play soccer and am part of the newly created Fire Services Academy. I am a Christ follower who understands the importance of serving others and being a light to those around us. I am also proud to be the grandson of a marine and a volunteer of Wreath Across America.

Wreaths Across America is a non-profit organization whose mission is to Remember the fallen, Honor those that serve, and Teach future generations about the sacrifices made for our freedoms. One way they do this is by placing over 700,000 wreaths on the headstones of fallen veterans at Arlington National Cemetery and more than 1,000 locations nationwide and overseas during remembrance ceremonies held each December.

This is the sixth year I have been a volunteer for Wreaths AcrossAmerica. The money I raise not only goes to honor veterans, but it also goes to help and support students at my school. The excess funds I raise as part of my 2019 project will go into the Spain Park Community Hope Chest. I started this fund at Spain Park High School to help get students the school supplies and support they need to be successful in school. Money in this account is currently being used to pack book bags with all the school supplies needed for a student to be successful this year. These bags will be handed out to students as our school counselors see a need.

The next generation honoring our military and a teenager helping his peers — what could be better? I’ll do the work, but I need your support. Each year, my project has grown. As a result, Wreaths Across America has been able to expand its reach in Alabama and conduct wreath laying ceremonies at additional sites. My goal for 2019 is 500 wreaths. If I reach this goal, all veteran graves at Jefferson Memorial Garden South in Hoover, Alabama (my home city) will have a wreath on them this Christmas, and I’ll be able to help other sites around the state ensure their graves are covered, too.

Will you and/or your business please help me meet this goal?

We have Memorial Day in the spring and Veterans’ Day in the fall, but our service men and women sacrifice their time and safety every single day of the year. They do it without expecting anything in return, often giving their life to protect our freedom. At many homes this Christmas, there will be an empty seat for one who is currently serving or one who has made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. There’s no better time to express our appreciation to them and their families.

Thank you in advance for your prayers and support in this undertaking. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
