Please help us honor and remember as many fallen heroes as possible by sponsoring Remembrance wreaths and volunteering on Wreaths Day, December 14, 2024 with your family and friends.

In Memory Of for Bernard J “Bud” Winn Jr, United States Military, Honored by Arlington National Cemetery

Major Bernard J. "Bud" Winn Jr. (1935-2024) Bud started his distinguished military career logging many flight hours on T-28A and T-34A aircraft while assigned to the Fireball 3305th PTG. As an Atlas Missile Combat Crew Commander (MCCC) in 1963, he commanded a four-man crew during the Cuban Missile crisis. While stationed at Tan Son Nhut Air Base in Vietnam, from 1969 to 1970 he was injured during an attack. He declined a Purple Heart in order to finish his assignment and for his bravery and dedication, he was awarded the Bronze Star and received the Air Force Medal for Meritorious Service. After his retirement from the military in 1978, Bud served as a Lockheed Advisor to the Royal Saudi Air Force’s F-15 program, sharing his expertise and dedication to aviation and National defense on an international scale. Bud married the love of his life, Shirley Rose Hanson on January 5, 1967, and together were devoted to their six children, twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at a later time. Rest in peace, Bernard "Bud" J. Winn Jr. your service, spirit, and love will never be forgotten.

In Honor Of for Philip Hooper, United States Military, Honored by Barrancas National Cemetery

In Honor of your service as paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division storming Normandy on D-Day and Purple Heart recipient at the Battle of the Bulge, thank you. For your service to Kiwanis of Niceville-Valparaison as President, your dedication to the Northwest Symphony Guild and the many community projects your hands have touched, thank you.

Navigation systems do an adequate job finding the cemetery. When you arrive, please follow the people and signs to the site of the ceremony itself.

Parking Instructions

There is plenty of parking at this cemetery, so feel free to park in any available spot.

Ceremony and Volunteer Information

We are happy that you are willing to help with our Wreath Across America ceremony at Barrancas National Cemetery. Please do not forget to register to volunteer! That way you will get all updates about the cemetery itself.

Here are some things to remember about the ceremony:

  • Everyone of all ages and backgrounds is welcome with volunteers sized in limitations and must be approved in advanced.

  • Registrations is required online at https://www.barrancaswreaths.com/volunteer.html. 

  • Please follow the location coordinators instructions on where to place wreaths, as well as "how" they should be placed.

  • We especially appreciate volunteers willing to help clean-up. Please check in with the location coordinator if you are interested in helping with the clean-up.

The most important thing to remember is to have a wonderful experience participating in the ceremony and thank you so much for help Wreaths achieve our mission to remember, honor and teach.
