In Memoriam
by Susan Lewellyn Pamerleau for Eorls Lewellyn, Army, Honored by San Antonio National Cemetery
In memory of my dear Uncle Eorls Lewellyn, who served during World War II in a combat engineer company protecting the rear flank of the 28th Division as it went into the Battle of Bulge. He was captured by the Germans along with ~200 other soldiers, then marched and taken by train to Limburg, Poland. When the Russians were coming from the east, the POWs were taken to Bremerhaven in the British sector to be repatriated! He lived a full life for 90 years before his passing. My uncle and my Dad were twins… and Eorls gave a life-changing gift when he let my Dad take the only suitcase and $70 to go to Bible College, and then my uncle went into the Army. The photo depicts my Dad and my Uncle on their 89th birthdays… my Dad in the red shirt, and my Uncle in the white shirt!
