<i class="material-icons" data-template="memories-icon">chat_bubble</i><br/>Bernard J “Bud” Winn Jr<br/><div class='remember-wall-long-description'>Major Bernard J. "Bud" Winn Jr. (1935-2024) Bud started his distinguished military career logging many flight hours on T-28A and T-34A aircraft while assigned to the Fireball 3305th PTG. As an Atlas Missile Combat Crew Commander (MCCC) in 1963, he commanded a four-man crew during the Cuban Missile crisis. While stationed at Tan Son Nhut Air Base in Vietnam, from 1969 to 1970 he was injured during an attack. He declined a Purple Heart in order to finish his assignment and for his bravery and dedication, he was awarded the Bronze Star and received the Air Force Medal for Meritorious Service. After his retirement from the military in 1978, Bud served as a Lockheed Advisor to the Royal Saudi Air Force’s F-15 program, sharing his expertise and dedication to aviation and National defense on an international scale. Bud married the love of his life, Shirley Rose Hanson on January 5, 1967, and together were devoted to their six children, twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at a later time. Rest in peace, Bernard "Bud" J.
