Carolyn Guertin
Carolyn Guertin was one of the first individuals to sign up for the Civil Air Patrol when she was 11 years old. She was first in line but they preferred signing up a male first. She became a pilot and was active in her squad until she passed away at 90 years old.

Altrusa International of Capital City is truly honored to have had Carolyn Guertin in our community service club. Her dedication to giving back to country and community was evident in her status and history with the Civil Air Patrol from its founding until she was called home.

Thanks, Dad, for your service to America during WW 2. You were but a kid but did what you had to do because you wanted to serve.

My grandfather was in France at the end of WWI when my mother was born. We will be eternally grateful that he was among those who returned from the war and was able to be part of my mother's life and ours.

My Great-Great-Grandfather, Alexander Jellie, served in the Union Calvary in the Civil War. Upon the end of the conflict he remained in Virginia and was appointed as the original Superintendent of the Glendale Cemetery in which he and he family members are buried. It is an honor for me to remember his service. I'm hoping a wreath will be placed at his grave, Section G, Site 688 in the Glendale Military Cemetery.
