2024 So Far
REMEMBER the Fallen. . . HONOR those who Serve. . . TEACH our children the value of Freedom.
Welcome to the In Memory of Kristine Hampshire's Wreaths Across America Page.
Kristine A. Hampshire, 75, of Blue Springs, passed away at her home on September 6 with family by her side.
Kristine Was born in Omaha, NE on November 3, 1948, and bled Husker Red her entire life. She graduated from Westside High School where she was active in Pep Club, Ski Club, French Club and International Club in 1966. She then attended University of Nebraska in Omaha before deciding to follow in her mothers footsteps and pursue a career in nursing. She graduated from Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1977 and had been changing lives ever since.
Kristine married Richard Doxon in 1979 and became a bonus mom to John and Danielle, who she loved unconditionally. The family was made complete with the birth of the always beautiful and ever charismatic Katrina in 1981.
Kristine worked in a few different fields as a nurse before finding her passion in surgery. She worked at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha for several years until marrying her second husband, Lee Hampshire in 1992, and making the move to Kansas City. She worked at several hospitals in the KC area, including Trinity, Menorah, St. Joseph Medical Center, and St Lukes East where she retired from nursing (for the second time) in 2019. Throughout her career she helped a countless amount of patients and physicians, and was always an advocate for those she cared for.
Although Kristine never accomplished her life goals of becoming a pirate wench or being rescued by a Navy Seal, she lived a life full of love and was admired by so many. Kristine never hesitated to help others, be it friend, stranger, or animal. She volunteered with many local charities, and was a member of the Blue Springs South JROTC Booster Club long after her grandson graduated. Kristine was always the first to show up with a cookie tray at the holidays, even if you insisted you were on a diet. She was famous for her peanut butter balls and Danish Klejner, and made the best fried chicken in the world. She was passionate about her garden, loved reading, and had a mindful knowledge of the current political climate and loved to talk about upcoming elections and political books. Kris loved unconditionally, which she demonstrated by voting for equality and rights for all.
Kristine is preceded in death by her parents: Allen Scoville, Ruth Grabow, and Don Grabow, her brother: Kevin Scoville, He first husband: Richard Doxon, second husband: Lee Hampshire, and mother and father in law: John and Venda Leigh Doxon.
She is survived by her sister: Kim Donaldson (Tom), her children: Katrina Monnig (Grant) Danielle Knudson (Brian) and John Doxon (Kristina), her grandsons: Alex, Joe, Nick and Patrick Knudson, Jordon (Cait) and Tyler Angermayer, and Oliver and Felix Doxon, her great grandchildren: Poppy and Indy Angermayer, nieces and nephews: Ryan and Megan Dambro, Zach and Sara Scoville, Matt Donaldson and Mikaela Masud, and her in laws Jana Knudsen and Jo and Indy Dambro. Kristine loved her family more than anything… except for maybe Wild Cherry Pepsi and Nebraska Football.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date TBA. In lieu of flowers please make donations in her name to Blue Springs South JROTC Booster Club, Wreaths Across America, or The USO."
