Welcome to the Prospect Hill Cemetery's Wreaths Across America Page.
For the third year, Omaha's Historic Prospect Hill Cemetery will be participating in Wreaths Across America. The idea is simple - a live, handmade balsam wreath will be placed on the grave of a veteran. That veteran's name will be said aloud as the wreath is placed, honoring their service and keeping their memory alive.
For only $17, you can sponsor one of these wreaths which will be placed on the grave of a veteran at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Please help our location lay wreaths at as many graves as possible by clicking the red "Sponsor" button.
You have the option to sponsor a wreath for a specific veteran at Prospect Hill Cemetery! Perhaps your parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or friend. Go to Prospect Hill Cemetery's Wreaths Across America page, select "Sponsor Wreaths", then choose the "Grave Specific" option at the bottom of the page. There you can enter the veterans information and request your sponsored wreath be placed on their grave.
We will be hosting a ceremony this year as well. Please scroll down and select the "CEREMONY AND VOLUNTEER INFORMATION" tab below the map for ceremony specific information.
If you are interested in assisting with the placement of the wreaths on our veterans graves, please scroll down and click on the "Volunteer" button and fill out the form.
Thank you so much for supporting Prospect Hill Cemetery and Wreaths Across America!

We are happy to invite you to join us at Prospect Hill Cemetery to honor those laid to rest in this historic burial ground by participating in Wreaths Across America.
The Wreaths Across America ceremony at Prospect Hill Cemetery will begin promptly at 11:00 AM. We ask that you do not arrive prior to 10:30 AM as we will be preparing for the event. The ceremony is expected to last approximately ten minutes and will be followed by brief instructions for our volunteers placing the wreaths on the graves of veterans a this historic burial ground. We plan to set out with our wreath placements at approximately 11:20 AM.
If you are interested in assisting with the placement of the wreaths, please register as a volunteer.
Here are some things to remember about the ceremony:
- Everyone of all ages and backgrounds is welcome.
- Though we will make every attempt to accommodate those who attend, the ceremony will take place on the grounds of the cemetery and may not be accessible to everyone.
- We especially appreciate volunteers willing to help clean-up when the time comes. Please check in with the location coordinator if you are interested in helping with the clean-up.
Here are some things to consider about volunteering:
- We are extremely grateful to every person willing to assist with this task. We will do our best to accommodate any volunteers who wish to assist.
- If you sign-up to volunteer and find when the day comes you are not comfortable navigating the grounds at the cemetery to lay wreaths, we encourage you to still attend the ceremony. We appreciate our volunteers and understand sometimes life and nature interfere with our plans.
- The terrain at Prospect Hill Cemetery is uneven, has some steep locations, and when snow covered can be a bit treacherous.
- Many veteran graves lay flat and some are beginning to sink into the ground - these may be very difficult to find the day of the event. We will have detailed maps and notes to assist, but it may be very much like a scavenger hunt, in the snow!
The most important thing to remember is to have a wonderful experience participating in the ceremony and wreath laying event. Thank you so much for your interest in Prospect Hill Cemetery and Wreaths Across America's mission to remember, honor, and teach.
