Staging Day - Friday, December 13, 2024
Every year Washington Crossing National Cemetery hosts a small group of adult volunteers who are either retired or took a day off from work to assist WCWFV with the task of unpacking wreaths, cardboard removal, separating and placing this year’s 15,672 ceremonial wreaths at the numerous locations throughout the cemetery. Without your support we would not be able to Honor the Veterans with the dignity they so deserve on WAA Day.
WAA Day, Saturday, December 14, 2024
To the thousands of families, friends and individuals, young and old who come out to the cemetery each year to pay their respect by Honoring a Veteran with a Ceremonial Wreath.
To the Ambassadors who spend all day greeting and assisting the families, friends and volunteers.
Cleanup Day, Monday, January 20, 2025
On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a dedicated group of volunteers braved the freezing temperatures and snow-covered cemetery to remove the ceremonial wreaths laid down a month earlier to Honor our Veterans. The group consisted of families, high school students, couples, individuals and Travis Manion groups, all of whom felt compelled to give up their day off to assist WCWFV with the clean-up mission. The group needed little direction as everyone found their way to either uncover the wreaths, pick up and pile the wreaths, move the wreaths to staging areas or walking them to the dumpsters. There was a group of approximately twelve owners who volunteered their pickup trucks to transport large piles of wreaths to the dumpsters. In all, approximately eighty or so individuals removed 15,672 wreaths in a three-hour window to six commercial size construction dumpsters located throughout the cemetery.
A special thanks to HML Containers for donating their time, labor, equipment, trash containers and mobilization cost with the staging and cleanup of the wreaths!
