Peterborough hosts Wreaths Across America events

Wreaths Across America volunteers placed 3 million wreaths at 4,225 locations across the country during the annual Wreaths Across America Day on Saturday, including at Peterborough’s Memorial Gates and all three of the town’s cemeteries.

Local coordinator and Girl Scout leader KaitLynne Foote organized the ceremony, which honors and remembers veterans of all American wars.

“We had a really good turnout. We had at least 60 people come to the ceremony, and I think they all came to the cemeteries as well,” Foote said. “It was a beautiful day, which helped. Last year, we were digging out from a blizzard, and our fire and police volunteers who had been going to volunteer couldn’t come because they were dealing with the emergency.”
