Directions to Cemetery

Before going to the cemeteries to lay wreaths, volunteers should attend the VFW Wreath Ceremony at the “New Freedom Veterans Park” @ 16700 Veterans Drive, New Freedom, PA (just off Campbell Road). There is plenty of parking there, but parking may be limited at New Freedom Ceremony if that is where you plan to volunteer. However, it is just a short walking distance to the New Freedom Cemetery from the Veterans Park or Park on George Street next to cemetery.
During the ceremony, please listen for any updates on where volunteers should go to place wreaths. After the ceremony, Location Coordinators will arrive at the cemeteries to give further instructions to volunteers. We ask that no volunteers start laying wreaths until the Location Coordinator gives instructions.

- New Freedom Cemetery (Off Campbell Road & George Street) - There is limited parking inside that cemetery. We suggest parking on George St. if you choose to drive over to the cemetery instead of parking at the Veterans Park)

-  St. John the Baptist Cemetery (315 N. Constitution Ave., New Freedom, PA)

- Bethlehem Steltz Reformed Church (5890 Steltz Road, Glen Rock, PA – going out of New Freedom west on Rt. 851)

- Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery (South Highland Road, Shrewsbury, PA)

- Joseph Giesey Memorial Cemetery (South Highland Road, Shrewsbury, PA)

Parking Instructions

There is plenty of parking at the New Freedom Veterans Park but limited parking at the New Freedom Cemetery. For able bodied persons, it is a short walking distance from the Veterans Park to the cemetery. There is plenty of parking at Bethlehem Steltz Church and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Ceremony and Volunteer Information

We are happy that you are willing to help with our Wreath Across America ceremony at New Freedom Cemetery. Please do not forget to register to volunteer! That way you will get all updates about the cemetery itself.

Here are some things to remember about the ceremony:

  • Everyone of all ages and backgrounds is welcome.
  • Please help ensure that all participants get the opportunity to place a wreath.
  • Please follow the location coordinators instructions on where to place wreaths, as well as "how" they should be placed.
  • We especially appreciate volunteers willing to help clean-up. Please check in with the location coordinator if you are interested in helping with the clean-up.

The most important thing to remember is to have a wonderful experience participating in the ceremony and thank you so much for helping Wreaths achieve our mission to remember, honor and teach.
