A Tribute
by Jason L. for Charles Sausedo, Army, Honored by Los Angeles National Cemetery

My grandfather, Charles Sausedo, served in the U.S. Army and fought in Korea. As Mexican-American who grew up near Azusa, CA, he was one of many from that community who volunteered for their country. He was a specialist with 105s Artillery. His Unit was on the Korean War Front, succeeding in pushing forward but reaching a point where supplies were running low. He was appointed to lead all trucking operations. Learning and adapting through his experiences as quickly as he could so that he could better the odds in his and his teammates' favor, even though there was only "one way in and one way out." When he fulfilled his duties, and when it was time to go home, you would think that this experience would deter anyone from looking back. My grandfather didn't; he re-enlisted in the National Guard. I'm incredibly proud of my grandfather. But most importantly, I'm th
