TNECMT Grows to Seven

Wreaths Across America (WAA)- On Monday, January 29, Obion County Memorial Gardens and Pleasant View Memorial Gardens joined the five other cemeteries which comprise Wreaths Across America Location TNECMT. “With this addition,” stated Linda Smith. TNECMT Location Coordinator, “the number of veterans who will be remembered on December 14, 2024 could potentially double.” Last December, volunteers assisted in placing wreaths on 1524 veterans’ graves.
Mr. Frank Dalton, Jr., the owner/manager of both cemeteries, along with Bre Shaffer, Obion County Memorial Gardens assistant manager, met with Smith and Sue Priest, WAA co-coordinator for Dresden, in the Obion County Memorial Gardens office where all forms were completed. Smith indicated that there is still some work to do, as the exact number of veterans was not available and co-coordinators are being sought. Priest commented, “While we don’t know for certain who will serve co-coordinators, we will search diligently to find the right combination. “
“This addition will require a team for each location. We have a few people who have indicated their desire to serve and we will work diligently to ensure their success,” Smith added. “I am really excited to have Wreaths Across America here,” said Dalton. Smith and Priest simultaneously added, “So are we!”
TNECMT started with Eastside Cemetery, in Martin in 2018. In 2021 Sunset Cemetery, Dresden and Beulah Cemetery, Union City became WAA locations. Woodlawn Cemetery, Sharon, followed early in 2023. The week of wreath placement in December, Sunrise Cemetery in Dresden joined the group.
