REMEMBER the Fallen. . . HONOR those who Serve. . . TEACH our children the value of Freedom.
Welcome to the Miramar National Cemetery's Wreaths Across America Page.
On December 14, 2024 (Wreath Placement Immediately Following Ceremony), Wreaths Across America will be at Miramar National Cemetery to Remember and Honor our veterans through the laying of Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud.
We are "back to normal" with our ceremony and wreath laying celebration and currently have over 3,300 volunteers registered to place wreaths. And, with being back to normal, please review these announcements:
1. ALL volunteer parking will be offsite, unless you have a CURRENT DMV issued handicap placard. Please arrive at the cemetery no earlier than 8:15 am. Vans will be available to transport you to the ceremony.
The offsite location is the VA employee overflow parking area at 6435 Miramar Rd. This is on the eastbound side of Miramar Rd. Sun Diego busses (provided by Manpower, Inc) will shuttle you to the cemetery from 7:30 and will conclude with the last bus leaving the cemetery at 11:30.
2. If you have a loved one for whom you want to place a wreath, and you did not sponsor a grave specific wreath before November 29, 2023, you will be able to place it after the ceremony. Next year, make sure to sponsor grave specific before Thanksgiving for early family placement.
3. We are expecting a very heavy turnout, so please respect those who are working hard to ensure everyone has wreaths to place, and each veteran's name is said aloud.
Thank you so much for supporting Miramar National Cemetery and Wreaths Across America!

Ceremony and Volunteer Information
We are happy that you are willing to help with our Wreath Across America ceremony at Miramar National Cemetery. Please do not forget to register to volunteer! That way you will get all updates about the cemetery itself.
Here are some things to remember about the ceremony:
Everyone of all ages and backgrounds is welcome.
During the ceremony, listen to etiquette instructions and how to properly place a wreath.
Follow the instructions of the section leaders among the graves.
If you observe a child exhibiting actions not appropriate for hallowed grounds (running, yelling, throwing things) PLEASE teach them the proper behavior. Even if they aren't yours. I really does take a village.
To properly place a wreath, respectfully approach the headstone, say the name out loud, gently and with respect lay the wreath against the stone with the bow in the 12:00 position. Fluff the bow and make sure all is in order before moving to your next area.
We especially appreciate volunteers willing to help clean-up. Please check in with the location coordinator if you are interested in helping with the clean-up.
See the overview or parking section for updates on parking issues.
The most important thing to remember is to have a wonderful experience participating in the ceremony and thank you so much for help Wreaths achieve our mission to remember, honor and teach.

Wreath Sponsorship
Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego, CA 92122, United States (CAMRNC) |14747|
Did you know that Wreaths Across America now offers recurring sponsorships? You can select the occurrence and cancel or pause anytime! Register now by completing this form! (https://tinyurl.com/n735zrbr)
What does it mean to sponsor a wreath? It means you are supporting a yearlong mission to Remember the fallen, Honor those that serve and Teach the next generation the value of freedom. Your sponsorship will support the new and existing programs developed to share the mission. And, it will place a wreath to honor an American hero at one of more than 4,400 participating locations this year on National Wreaths Across America Day – a day set aside to lay gathers as Americans with the same goal.
We can’t do that without your support, though. Your sponsorship will ensure that a wreath is hand-crafted of all-American balsam and hand-tied with a red velvet bow here in Columbia Falls, Maine. It will then be sent to one of our participating locations, where a volunteer will place it on the marker of a hero. That volunteer will then “say their name” to ensure that the legacy of duty, service and sacrifice is never forgotten.
So, what does it mean to sponsor a wreath? It means you have the opportunity to join a grateful nation in saying “thank you” to those who stepped up to serve.
*Please Note: Specific locations designated as "ceremonial-only" accept a limited number of sponsorships. Any additional sponsorships received beyond those used for the ceremony will be distributed to other locations.
