Dear Sir or Madam:

We are the Hoover Fire Academy at the Riverchase Career Connections Center, or RC3. We are a group of students who are learning the skills necessary to become certified as volunteer firefighters while in high school. Upon graduation, we can choose to continue down the path of becoming a full-time firefighter through additional educational requirements. To assist with the financial portion of these requirements, we are partnering with Wreaths Across America to raise funds for a scholarship to help graduating students continue down the path of becoming a full-time firefighter.

Wreaths Across America is a non-profit organization whose mission is to Remember the fallen, Honor those that serve, and Teach future generations about the sacrifices made for our freedoms. One way they do this is by placing over 700,000 wreaths on the headstones of fallen veterans at Arlington National Cemetery and more than 2,100 locations nationwide and overseas during remembrance ceremonies held each December.

Students pursuing an education to become first responders and honoring our military while on their journey — what could be better? There’s no better way to celebrate our freedom than by honoring those who have fought to defend it. We are taking it upon ourselves to ensure all 750 graves at Currie-Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Hoover, Alabama have a wreath on them this Christmas.

Will you and/or your business please help us meet this goal? It’s simple to do.

Each wreath sponsorship costs $17. Checks should be made payable to Wreaths Across America. We send all funds raised to Wreaths Across America.

Wreaths Across America returns $5 of every wreath sponsorship to us for the scholarship.

We have Memorial Day in the spring and Veterans’ Day in the fall, but our service men and women sacrifice their time and safety every single day of the year. They do it without expecting anything in return, often giving their life to protect our freedom. At many homes, there is an empty seat for one who is currently serving or one who has made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. There’s no better time to express our appreciation to them and their families. And, by participating in this program with us, you will honor them again in December when the wreaths are placed on the headstones.

Thank you in advance for your support in this undertaking. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Members of the Hoover Fire Academy
