Welcome to the Pilot Club of St. Lucie County (FL0212)'s Wreaths Across America Page. 

On December 17, 2022 at 12:00 pm, Pilot Club of St. Lucie County (FL0212) will be helping Florida National Cemetery to Remember and Honor our veterans by laying Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes.

Please help us honor and remember as many fallen heroes as possible by sponsoring remembrance wreaths, volunteering on Wreaths Day, or inviting your family and friends to attend with you.

The Tuskegee Legacy

WW II had begun the first week James Sheppard was enrolled in high school. “A lot of young men at the time wanted to do their part for their country. It was a patriotic thing, and millions were signing up to get in. Dad had heard they had established a program for African-America pilots, and he thought that was the thing to do.

6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion

In early 1945 as the Battle of the Bulge concluded Army officials reported that a lack mail was hurting morale. Warehouses were filled with millions of pieces of mail destined for the seven million Americans serving in the European theater. The task of getting that mail to its intended recipients fell on the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion.

Directions to Cemetery

Navigation systems do an adequate job finding the cemetery. When you arrive, please follow the people and signs to the site of the ceremony itself. We do however ask that you enter from the north using exit 314, then West on Hwy48, turn left onto Co Rd 625, turn right onto Co Rd 476W for 1.6m then left onto Co Rd 476B South. The cemetery entrance will be on your right. We will be handing out wreaths from the main entrance as well as the maintenance vehicle entrance. 

Parking Instructions

Once you have received your wreaths you are able to go to any section in the cemetery to place your wreaths. After you have placed your wreaths we ask that you either leave the cemetery to allow others to Remember our fallen veterans, or join us for our ceremony.Please follow cemetery guidelines for parking.Thank you for your help us in our mission to Remember~Honor~Teach. 

Ceremony and Volunteer Information

We are happy that you are willing to help with our Wreath Across America ceremony at Florida National Cemetery. Please do not forget to register to volunteer! That way you will get all updates about the cemetery itself.

Here are some things to remember about the ceremony:

  • Everyone of all ages and backgrounds is welcome.
  • Please help ensure that all participants get the opportunity to place a wreath.
  • Please follow the location coordinators instructions on where to place wreaths, as well as "how" they should be placed.
  • We especially appreciate volunteers willing to help clean-up. Please check in with the location coordinator if you are interested in helping with the clean-up.

The most important thing to remember is to have a wonderful experience participating in the ceremony and thank you so much for help Wreaths achieve our mission to remember, honor and teach.
