In Memoriam
by Stacie Arcomona for Wade Greer, Air Force, Captain, Honored by Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery

Wade Greer, Captain, Air Force
In Memory of Captain Wade Anthony Greer (3/29/1943-11/5/1969) - As he died in Vietnam a little over a year before I was born, I never had the honor of meeting my cousin Wade. 31 years and 1 day after his death, my daughter was born. Her father was born in Saigon and left with his family when he was 6. I no longer live in Northern VA, but when I did we often visited him and his co-pilot at Arlington. I always appreciate the wreaths at Christmas. I know the rest of Wade’s family and extended family does as well

Ceremony and Volunteer Information

We are happy that you are willing to help with our Wreath Across America ceremony at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Our Ceremony is being held off-site this year due to space restraints inside JBNC.  December 17, 2022 join us at The Veterans Memorial Ampitheater inside Jefferson Barracks County Park at 533 Bagsby Street.  Parking opens at 10 a.m. and the Ceremony begins promptly at 11 a.m.  At the conclusion of the ceremony please follow the traffic control directions to gain entrance to JBNC.

Please do NOT go to the cemetery before the conclusion of there ceremony so we may be able to give families and friend quiet time to honor their loved ones with their sponsored wreaths.  We appreciate your respecting their time.  Wreaths will not be distributed until the conclusion of the ceremony except to Grave Specific Sponsors who sponsored their loved ones wreath through that option.

Here are some things to remember about the ceremony:

  • Everyone of all ages and backgrounds is welcome.
  • To help ensure that all participants get the opportunity to place a wreath, wreaths are distributed to registered participants.  Please keep in mind there are over 200,000 gravesites at JBNC and only a small percentage of them receive wreaths each year.  You may only get one wreath to place, or you may get several.  It all depends on the number of wreaths sponsored each year.  We depend on supporters to sponsor wreaths to help honor more heroes every year.
  • Please follow the location coordinators instructions on where to place wreaths, as well as how they should be placed.
  • We especially appreciate volunteers willing to help clean-up. Please check in with the location coordinator if you are interested in helping with the clean-up in January 2024.

The most important thing to remember is to have a wonderful experience participating in the ceremony and thank you so much for help Wreaths achieve our mission to remember, honor and teach.
