He was one of over 12,000 Canadian Army soldiers to aid the US in the landing in August 1943.Pvt. Dejardins died as a result of an accidental explosion of an unexploded ordinance while on the island.He was from Montreal, Quebec and was 22.

Airmen and Warrant Officer Granville, 14 Squadron, RCAF was sent to Alaska in April of 1942 to aid the US in regaining the Alaska territory from the Japanese now entrenched on Kiska and Attu. Born in Manitoba, Canada he enlisted in 1940. Harold died when his Kittyhawk (P-40) crashed just after arriving in the Aleutians.
